DPR Korea have been crowned 2008 AFC Women’s Asian Cup champions after Kim Yong-ae’s second-half strike secured a 2-1 win over defending champions China.
Both sides have been in fine form on the road to the final and unsurprisingly the game got off to a frenetic start.
And the opening goal soon arrived when Bi Yan breached the North Korean’s defence for the first time in the tournament in the 11th minute.
But DPR Korea kept their heads up and turned the game on its head with two goals in nine minutes.
First, Ri Kum-suk equalised in the 57th minute before Kim Young-ae scored in the 66th minute to secure DPR Korea’s third Asian title and first since 2003.
